Took these pics of Ivy & Layla a few days ago. Layla is sure getting lazy in her 'old' age. Getting ready for Christmas tonight, doing some baking. Maybe can get some pics up of my cookies later.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Went to Mom & Dad's yesterday for lunch. Weather was great so we sat outside most of the afternoon.

Dinner with the Hunters

 

 

 

Bacon wrapped elk backstrap... Best way I've ever had elk.. yumm....

This week we had Hunters in town from WI. One is dating my best friend Lindsey, who they brought along. She & I had a great week together. The hunters got two bull elk while they were here. On Friday night before they left Grant made an awesome elk dinner that included pumpkin au gratin.

Beautiful Telluride

 

Yesterday we took a trip up to Telluride, CO. It is located right next to their ski area and even has ski lifts including a gondola that start in town. The colors were beautiful even though it was a little past peak. It has an elevation of 8,750, and has to be my new favorite town in Colorado.

 

 

Telluride has a free gondola from the downtown area up to Mountain Village. It is the only public transportation system of its kind in the US. Below is a picture of the downtown station where you board to go to Mountain Village.

 

 

Mountain Village was pretty awesome, with lots of shops, hotels, restaurants, and outdoor plazas. We sat at a café and had some drinks before we got back on the gondola and headed back downtown.

 

Ladybugs

Grant's parents have a greenhouse we had to water for them while they were away. They were having problems with bugs & got a bunch of ladybugs. I didn't know that they looked like this while they matured.

Carrot Harvest

Didn't do too many veggies this year but these carrots turned out nice & were very tasty. Found the red kuri squash (in the background) at the store, had never had it before. We roasted it & had it on mini whole wheat pizzas. Anyone else used them before?

Search for the Salamander..

Papa found a salamander in the pond earlier in the day. Clayton was very excited about finding it again & again. He had Grant in the pond searching. He was a little timid when it actually came to touching the thing.

Clayton's 5!

Finally getting around to posting pictures of Clay's 5th Birthday. We had a get together at Mom & Dad's for him. He had a party with some of his friends at his house too. He got a tablet that I'm sure he will be obsessed with for days to come and a new backpack for school. He starts Kindergarten this Tuesday.

4-Mile Falls

Hiked up 4-Mile Falls yesterday. The water was going pretty good, you can't really tell from the pic, I put my camera away when I got close to play in the water. Lots of wildflowers on the way up. You can see all the dead trees from the beetle kill, this area was hit really hard. Still a beautiful area despite it. Made friends with some chipmunks where we stopped to eat lunch, pretty sure the hikers are good to them, they are pretty brave.

 



Evening Swim

 

Took the dogs down to the boat landing by the house. Ivy loves to swim, its about the only thing that really wears her out. Layla loves the water but can't swim (she can for survival but its not pretty) so she tries to steal Ivy's ball as she swims in with it.

Cheesy Pizza!

Went to Durango last Monday with Mom, Dad, & Clay for Dad's eye checkup appt. Ate on main at Chimayo where Clay learned some fork spinning techniques for his pizza. He was quite entertaining.

Wedding Tea

Went to a Tea Party/Wedding Shower for my co-worker Hannah today. Had some yummy food then relaxed outside in the nice weather for a while.
